Hello I just finished all the mechanical stuff and 3D printing on my first Open R/C vehicle. I followed the mostly metal drive-train instructions on thingiverse thanks to Steamerzone. Overall pretty pleased with the results I just also just ordered the Traxxas XL-5 ESC and the Titan 550 12T motor. Anyone else used this setup? If so let me know how it went for you. Will keep you updated once they come in.
Just an FYI in that the Titan motor is a brushed motor and will burn out after a few hours of usage. We eventually upgraded our 2WD Traxxas to a brushless motor and it’s been problem free. Check Amain or HobbyKing for some low cost brushless motor options.
Thanks I appreciate the advice.
@T_Thorsen_TBillz , I guess YMMV, but we were running our short course trucks at an indoor clay track and after a few Saturdays, we had gone through 2 brushed motors. I learned about breaking them in and went through the process with the 2nd one but it too eventually failed.
Looks good. I noticed something looked out of place. You have the rear turnbuckles mounted in the wrong place. Or was that intentional?
@badassdubs Intentional actually. Some of the parts on this particular truggy are a bit modified and placing the rear turnbuckles like that kept the rear wheels aligned correctly. I suppose I could just change the length and place them in the correct slot.
hi could you please share link that where you buy the tire dogbone.
