Hello my name is Hector and I want to get into 3D printing.

Hello my name is Hector and I want to get into 3D printing. I wanted to start with a 3D print kit. So I wanted to know what direction will be best? Buying one from the store or build one from a kit? Any guidance will help. I do plan on starting a business that does 3D print for clients.

Hi Hector, I think that building one from a kit is much better than a pre-assembled unit, as when something goes wrong(which will happen) you would then know how to fix it quickly…it is all about trial and error.

I always recommend the PrintrBot Simple. Build it from a kit so you really understand how it works, and there are lots of modifications you can do afterwards.

Generally, it depends on your level of skill with mechanical and electrical assembly, but in your case, since you want to make it a business, you are best advised to get a kit and start learning that way.

The Printrbot Metal Simple kit is my first choice. Assembling it and getting it running properly is fairly easy, and will give you an excellent start in your learning journey through 3D printing.

It took me a day to assemble, and a week or so to get mine working reliably, starting with absolutely no hands-on knowledge about 3D printing.

That printer is fairly small, but very tough and rigid - and once you get it working well it tends to stay working too. My kind of machine.

Thank you for all the replies they were very helpful, I do agree that a kit will be best for me since I like knowing how to fix my own equipment. I will look into Printrbot and check them out.
