Hello,

So I’m working on writing a grant for a Lulzbot Taz 6 for my school. We already have spools upon spools of 1.75mm filament, and the printer takes 3mm. I’ve watched several videos claiming that replacing the Bowden tubing inside the extruder will convert the printer and allow it to print with 1.75mm filament. I just want to verify that this is an acceptable method of running 1.75mm through a 3mm extruder.

Thanks!

While replacing the teflon tube might allow it to use 1.75mm filament, you also need to swap in a 1.75mm hotend for best results.

Should be easy to swap for a 1.75mm hotend. I’ve run 1.75mm in a 3mm jhead without any significant problems.

I’m working on a much more complicated swap by trading for an E3D Titan with E3D v6 extruder.
Check back in this forum in a week or two.

If you live with a slightly smaller volume, the Makergear M2 if far more robust than the Taz6 and uses 1.75 media and costs less
