Hello there!
Although it may sound a little silly to some of you, I have a really silly problem with my printer.
When I am heating up the nozzle, plastic is coming out- and a lot of it! Even when the extruder isn’t moving, and it messing up my prints! What should I do?
BTW I am printing on my Tevo Taranula, with PLA 210°C.
I have something similar with my Prusa, what I do is preheat and then wait 5 minutes, then clear away the leakage. I don’t get as much as it sounds like you do, but I think what is happening is the filament in the hotend expands and squeezes out during the warm up process. Giving the system time to stabilize has helped me out. Good Luck.
@Patrick_Odell yes, that is what I tried, but it created 2 problems: the first one is that tons of plastic is wasted. The same thing happened to me with other material (PLA from other supplier), and I had to wait just about 30 seconds to the plastic come out. The second problem is when the print itself begins, it takes to the PLA time to come out of the nozzle, and it’s just skipping the whole first layer. I really don’t know how to fix it… Do you have any idea?
Try reducing the temp a bit. Sounds like the plastic might be to hot, so it’s oozing out of the nozzle. It’s always pretty normal to have a little bit of leakage, but shouldn’t happen mid print.
One option is to set an auto retract and auto prime in the beginning and ending gcode. I use Cura and you have the option to type in your own code. Setting up an ultimaker printer like the ultimaker 2 and looking through the default gcode will show you what line of code tells the printer to retract the filament when it’s done and when to prime it. If you have the filament pulled back out of the hot end, it won’t heat up while the hot end gets hot. As it starts to print, it will prime the system just before it actually starts pushing material out and will ensure that you have filament at the nozzel when it starts printing. If you’d like some help, feel free to message me and I’ll send you some screenshots.
