Hello, what 3D printer would you buy today if you had $1000? It can be out-of-the-box or a kit. P.s. the software should have linux support.
Kossel. Runs on marlin so OS is not important. Add a raspberry pi with octoprint for extra awesome.
Crafbot forever!
https://ultimaker.com/en/products/ultimaker-2-family/ultimaker-2-go 1200eur. You don’t pay VAt on exports anyway and the way the eur/usd falls, it will be <$1000 soon anyway.
@Marcus_Wolschon you do have to pay VAT on imports, though…
I’d get a Printrbot Play and spend the rest on filament!
@Thomas_Sanladerer in the US that’s a state-thing and I guess imports count as “interstate commerce” as opposed to “intrastrate commerce”
Probably a i3 kit from http://prusaprinters.org as I really would want to see how far the quality of a proper kit printer have come.
Thanks all for suggestions, I did some researching and I really like the ultimaker because of it’s speed, plate size and resolution, but I would need to save more and I couldn’t find a euro retailer otherwise shipment + customs would require me to sell the house
Anyone can comment on http://eu.xyzprinting.com/eu_en/Eshop printers? Prices are really nice, specs look solid too. I know they don’t have linux software but couldn’t I just use Cura or Splic3r?
A Euro retailer? Ultimaker is from the Netherlands.
im my opinion, Ultimaker 2 Go is a good printer but with a small volume, only 120x120x115 cm than the Craftbot is 200x250x200 cm!!! and the Craftbot cost $870.00 (ex.VAT) http://www.craftunique.com/category/craftbot-3d-printer
$1000 budget is tough. If you can get $1500 I’d recommend the Makergear M2. But under a grand I’d have to go with the Printrbot Simple Metal with Heated Bed. The kit is only $690 and it gives you a lot of budget for upgrades and exotic filament. Plus Printrbot has a huge support community. I can’t say anything about Kossel which was also recommended because I don’t have much experiance with delta stlye printers. Prusa kits are great if you want to know everything about your printer but I would recommend against them unles you’re extremely technical or you have extensive experiance with an open source printer (i.e. not a Makerbot). Let us know what you choose please.
Rostock MAX V2, of course
@Marcus_Wolschon
Wow, pretty bad of me
Maybe I had some other company in mind… But anyways, maybe I could afford the “2 go”, but I don’t really want to spend so much on my very 1st printer @Adam_Steinmark I’m actually leaning towards the Kossel XL because of the price/spec ratio and because of the reviews. Also it’s no.1 on 3Dhubs ATM. Also can anyone recommend a filament euro e-shop?
The Printrbot Simple Metal is less than 3/4 the cost of the Kossel I think Marcus confused you. But I can understand your preferance and 3D Hubs is a fantastic and trustworthy site. I buy Hatchbox brand filament from Amazon. They sell ABS and PLA, cheapest price per kg, and all have 4.5+ star reviews.
I would suggest a Delta. Check out the speed - https://youtu.be/0r_b7Au5Z2w
@Mikhail_Marenov , what is the price, and where to buy?
It’s basically mini kossel with linear guides and smoothie controller.
So, where can I buy it?
@Justinas_Karaliunas @Thomas_Sanladerer holds a great point about the Printrbot Play. If you are looking for a first printer it is unbeatable in my opinion and Tom’s review shows it. If you want a larger build area move up the list to maybe a printrbot simple metal or a printrbot metal plus, all of which are under $1000 usd
@Griffin_Paquette The Plus is $1200 USD but I agree about the Play and Simple Metal. I have the Simple Metal with Heated Bed and I love it. The Play looks great for beginners with its durability and reliability and it’s even a good place to start if you’re looking to go into open source printing. I like the Simple Metal but I’ve been 3D Printing for a few years so I wanted something more open and with a larger build area than the Play. But if you only need 4x4x5 in build area and don’t need a heated bed then go for the Play.
