Hello! What do you guys think of the technology to print weapons using 3D printers? It has been tested in the US and Canada but has anyone in Europe tried that?

The police in Austria has tested it. Here is one of the press news: http://kurier.at/chronik/oesterreich/polizei-test-ergab-waffe-aus-3-d-drucker-ist-toedlich/21.174.986

Thanks! Yes, I saw that. I was wondering if private persons in Europe (like in the US and in Canada) have tested it

no doubt

Any idea who?

@Georgi_Kantchev no idea, but surely, for everything shown in the internet there are lots of people trying to do it bigger or better. To show off or to use it. But I believe, that 3D printing will not lead to more problems as there are. Many things are already weapons. And producing guns, if this is what you mean, seems to me more dangerous for the maker than for anyone else. I would expect printed weapons to explode and surely not to be more useful as a knife. I don’t believe 3D printing ever to become exact enough to make weapons without additional machinery.

The tech to ‘print weapons’ is still far inferior to the tech that people have been using for hundreds of years to make weapons.

edit: I encourage people who want to make guns this way because, you know, Darwin needs a hand every now and then.

I hope not… That is the only thing that scares ne about 3D printing. Why would you want to do that?

@John_Ridley Offcourse! But the metal ones you can not download!

Now every none thinking brainless open-mouth-breather can download a gun.

If you have the skills to work with lathes and mills (and own those, or someone let you use one), i assume you have brains enough to know you shouldn’t print a gun .

Well, you need to learn how to run the printer… and then assemble the weapon… I think the concern is being able to make fire arms without anyone’s knowledge (i.e. gun control…) And guns are a problem because that is a way to end a life without any skills.

So is driving, but mindless assholes do that all the time

I think we have demonstrated the need for way better affordable 3d printers. Next we need better polymers to withstand the abuse a gun gets. It was going to happen at some point guns are not dangerous. This just levels the playing field for those who want to own a gun to protect themselves. Criminals are going to do whatever they want anyhow. Just make sure to fill out ATF paperwork before you print. Support law abiding citizens by maintaning this ability.

Great, another bs article by a neophyte
