Is there possibility to buy only IC compatible with fastled? not the whole strip with diodes or diodes with integrated IC. I am looking only for controller to use with highpower smd leds.
This is not where I’d buy it but:
You’re looking for WS2811 chips.
By “IC” do you mean a microcontroller like an ATMega? https://github.com/FastLED/FastLED/wiki/Overview#supported-platforms
Yes, that is what i mean.
In most simple words only the single black chip with the legs
Thanks Andrew, i prefer something in EU, in such stories like TME or Farnell etc, but this is what i am talking about.
Oh. You can buy WS2811 as DIP8 and SOP8.
They are made in China so that is where it is cheapest to buy them.
How many individual leds can i connect to every chip ?
WS2811 is a current sink. Each IC can connect to (RRR series) + (GGG series) + (BBB series). The datasheet is not good, but you can read it here: http://www.adafruit.com/datasheets/WS2811.pdf
soo… if i reading this correctly each chip can take one rgb or 3 one color diode ? right ? So if i want 6 independent lights then i need to use 2 chips ?
Hi @TAK_NIE , yes you are right. If you want 6 independent LEDs you will need 2 chips.
