How much weight are you moving? I’ve had good luck with the Monster Guts wiper motors - perhaps not as compact but they can move around a lot of weight. They can be controlled in both directions for a buck or two in parts.
@Michael_Audette it is looking to be about 10-20kg when assembled.
solid works?
I have no idea what you guys are discussing besides ‘robot’ but it sounds exciting. Good luck!!!
Pololu has several large scale high torque servos. Far more powerful than most hobby scale ones.
I remember seeing servos that claimed 55KG on ebay
The other options are Dynamixels servos but they are expensive.
Or why use 2 gearboxes use a high speed motor and a bigger reduction in our gearbox say a 100:1 worm gear controlled with your openservo
@Jelle_Boomstra
This is my existing design. Fully printed and working. I get about http://90kg.cm stall with an overall reasonable speed before it starts to break. I need more speed and torque for the new design.
@Peter_Heim and others have suggested a DC motor, custom pcb and some epicyclic gearing to get the job done. I am CADing up some tests
