Help please! I have a printrbot simple metal and have had nothing but issues. It quit connecting to cura (computer recognized that it was plugged in, but said it did not recognize the device) so they sent me a new board. Now it’s still doing the same thing, I plug it into my computer and it says device not recognized. The driver is installed and the printer is on. What do I do? I have windows 7 and am currently using cura.

What is your baud rate set to in RepetierHost?

250000, when I plug the printer into my computer it says device not recognized. I’ve tried two different computers and downloaded the driver from the printrbot website.

@Brook_Drumm please help, I’m seriously about to throw this thing at the wall. I haven’t gone a week without having some sort of issue with my printer.

Littli tip @Sue_Gibson write a + in front of @Printrbot and they might see your post or maybe even @Brook_Drumm

Tried to help @Sue_Gibson on freakbook but did not find anything…

When printbot is connected have you gone into device manager, ports, then right click and properties on the connection that matches the COM port you are plugged into and checked the port settings just in case windows is using something different?

My computer won’t connect at higher baud rates. I believe 115000 is the fastest mine gets to.

Fastest mine goes is 128000

Are they suggesting Cura now for the first print? It used to be Repetier Host.

I don’t know if it still applies, but in Repetier you used to have to set the ‘Reset on Connect’ to Disabled, otherwise it won’t connect.

Sorry, just reading that again, when it says device not recognised, is that in Cura or in Device Manager? If the latter, try uninstalling the device and trying again. If in Cura, make sure it’s set to the correct Com Port.

It’s from the computer itself

Neither of thee programs recognize it either

Sorry you are having problems! Currently, Cura is off the reservation. Try repetier and we can support you step by step- we have a large knowledge base on that. Let me know how it goes.

I downloaded repetier it won’t connect to that either

@Sue_Gibson if you go in to Device manager and see the device listed in there with an ! next to it, right click on it and uninstall it. Unplug the printer, wait 10 seconds and plug it back in. It should auto detect.

In Device Manager, take not of which Com Port is associated with the newly installed device. For instance, on my computer, it’s listed as Com3.

Back in the software (as Brook said, preferable Repetier Host), click on Config -> Printer Settings. Make sure that the Com Port is set to the correct Com that the printer is set up on.

In that same screen, make sure that 'Baud Rate is set to 25000 and that ‘Reset on Connect’ is set to Disabled (the last is most important).

Let us know how you go with that.

My com ports don’t show and I’ve tried everything to make them show
