Hello,
I’ve built a large Delta 3D Printer, I finally finished up the build and set up the configuration file so that now I can start printing. Unfortunately it looks like the printer is freezing during prints. When it begins to print it will first wait for the bed and extruder to reach the desired temp and then start to print. It prints well for a few layers and then will randomly freeze. The extruder and bed hold their temps fine but the head just stops moving and the panel says it’s paused. When I try to un-pause it with the pause button on the smoothieboard, nothing happens.
So far the only things that I tried to print have been the Hollow Cube, Hollow Pyramid and 40mm Cube. I’m using slic3r to generate the G-Code.
Looking forward to getting advise!
Thanks,

Do you print from pronterface or something similar ?
Can you try printing from the SD card instead ?
Can you try using the network connection instead of USB too ?
I always print from the SD card, never from USB. But I do have the printer connected to pronterface through USB.
Check if the file is fuly copied to the SD card, and not truncated.
Also try using Ethernet instead of USB.
What would be the best way to avoid having the files being truncated? I’m not sure yet if this is the problem.
Ok,
So I have had a little bit of time to further explore my freezing issue, I’ve noticed a couple of things:
- Mosfet for Heated Bed is very hot
- Smoothieboard freezes after I’ve “played” a G-Code
- When Smoothieboard freezes, it does so randomly
My question now is whether my slic3r settings are causing Smoothieboard to crash? Also, why is my Mosfet so hot?
Looking forward to hearing from somebody!
Thanks,

Hey.
A hot mosfet is normal, and wouldn’t be related to this problem.
For random feezes, can you try another slicer ( like Cura ) .
Can you also try using Ethernet instead of USB ( with the USB cable completely disconnected ) ?
Cheers.
I just downloaded Cura and will give it a try later,
I don’t have the USB connected at all. It’s being run right from the panel
thanks,
