Here is a new Core x,y printer I have been working on. Build area of 200mm x 200mm x 200mm. Currently has a wades style extruder, researching the Bowden setup. This was printed with the printed “Big Red” printer.
I love it! Great job.
Not the highest-quality photo, but that doesn’t look like a valid CoreXY belt path. Looks more H-bot equivalent.
@Nathan_Walkner Yes, Nathan the bearings are stacked on common a shaft to avoid crossing the belts. Turning on Core xy in marlin was required to make the printer work.
@Whosa_whatsis I’m also confused by the belt path
@Dennis_Hapes To simplify the question, on your X bridge, do the two belts move together, or do they move in opposite directions when the X axis moves?
@Whosa_whatsis When the X bridge moves the two belts move the same direction. There is the same motor configuration on the back side. upper motors for x,y and the lower motors for Z. Hope this helps.
After some thought, if I understand it correctly, it IS CoreXY, but one of the belts is looped around the opposite side of the frame from normal. Which means you don’t have the usual “one side open” arrangement where most people put a cantilevered Z stage or a viewing window. I can’t think of any real performance downside to that arrangement though.
Ah, yes, I see it now. It’s a CoreXY with the 90-degree turn in one corner of the machine moved to the opposite corner.
Do you have any new pics of this printer?
@Justin_Edwards Sorry, I don’t, 4 months after the original post I had a Stroke. Lost movement with all of my left side (leg, arm and hand. It has been a long road back. I am thankful to be here at all ! I recently started an instructable for others to continue with the project. Here is a link to see my instructables I think if you follow me on Instructables it will notify you when it is posted: https://www.instructables.com/id/Long-Bed-Printed-3d-Printer/
I did have the core xy printing working on updates before my stroke here is another picture. It was looking good. Are you interested in building one?
missing/deleted image from Google+
@Dennis_Hapes Someone in the reprap channel (Rob235) is building a castle themed plotter, and I used to be on the reprap hangouts with you and remembered this printer. Took me a little bit of googling to find a picture. I’m sorry to hear about the stroke.
Thank you, I wanted a Castle themed printer, and wanted to experiment with the bed being supported on 2 sides instead of one side. “Z” worked great this way able to keep it light and strong. Hopefully over the next months I will get the instructable completed. I have been getting back on Hangouts a little more now. Talk to you later
