Here we go! The extruder for the @BotBQ is finished and the new design works great. The complete @BotBQ printer is a little ways off, but I thought I’d share this in the meantime. As soon as the video is done uploading I’ll upload it as well. Or you can head here: Learn3DP - YouTube and just wait till its done… cause I might be sleeping by the time its finished uploading… Have a nice night!

The @BotBQ Extruder is ready to rumble and pump out burgers of all shapes and sizes! This is only the initial tests of the complete extruder, adaptable to Wades extruders in that you do not even have to remove your hotend if you wish to print a burger! The files and a write up will follow in the coming days. Video of it is being uploaded now and I’ll post once its up. I’ll be bringing it to #OS3DC as well this weekend.
Also, I think @Jason_Ray may be my new hero. I can’t wait to see the multi head version that puts mayo and mustard on the cooked burger, I assume that’s in the pipeline right?. @ThantiK well be on the button there , aren’t McDonalds replacing all their cashiers with touch screens anyway?
Yeah I was thinking that, or a wire conveyor with a gas burner on top or bottom. Should be easy enough to get it into a bun afterwards with simple robotics too. Man, it’s a really compelling concept when you think of it; imagine if you could specify your burger exactly the way you like it at a touch screen, even down to the beef/chuck ratio, rare/medium/well done, sauces, type of bun, cheese, pickles etc etc and then have a perfectly cooked and assembled burger pop out a few minutes later.
I’m planning for the interface for the complete @BotBQ to be an interface where you can choose the shape of the burger for now, but cooked options (rare, medium, well done) I can see being added as well.
The hotbed… of the @BotBQ will be a grill though, and I have even drawn up sketches where it is all made from aluminum and mobile… where you can take it to your grill outside and latch it onto, or just set it ontop of your bbq and print away on your existing grill setup… That is a ways off though. Super fun project.
