The new beta version of the wheel is ready.
It now has the outer rims too.

@Weird_RC The rim has been designed according to the OpenRC Truggy Rim specs that @Daniel_Noree sent me.
So if you have printed the OpenRC Truggy rim these ones should be a drop-in replacement.

Okay I don’t have any tires to put on except some 2,2 inches crawling tires.

@Weird_RC the rim (or wheel) being designed in OpenSCAD could be adapted to fit any (or almost any) tire, but I would like to test full OpenRC Truggy rim compatibility too.
You can find more info about it the rim (or wheel) here: http://letsmakerobots.com/content/baswheel-bastire-and-bashub

@Basile_Laderchi . Do I need a 3D printer?

@Weird_RC you do need a 3D printer to print the wheel, like you would need a 3D printed to print the OpenRC Truggy.

Are these the same size as the OpenRC rims?

I guess that as been asked already. I will print them and test them out.

@Daniel_Noree What percentage of infill should I print these at? 50%?

@bcrazycramer good question. It’s been a while since I printed the rims but I think I actually used 100% infill…

@bcrazycramer the wheels have been designed according to the OpenRC Tryggy rim specs @Daniel_Noree sent me.
Only the spokes are different.
I would go for 100% infill, but the only part that will really use the infill is the central hub. The spokes will, most likely, use no infill.
They are only 1mm in width (being designed in OpenSCAD that could change though).

BTW after this beta was published I designed the spokes to be like the Polaris TerrainArmor and like the Hankook NPT wheels.

@Basile_Laderchi I will try printing all 4 tonight. That might take a while…

@bcrazycramer I can’t wait to see the results.

So my first attempt… I printed the wheel upside down. Oops. I will try it again today. 7 hours of waiting to see how it turns out.
