Hey everyone. I’ve been considering creating an open source, competition grade, 2wd off-road buggy. To accomplish this I’d borrow key parts from other vehicles and make all normal plastic parts 3D printable. It’d end up being similar to the car below. Weigh in below and let me know!
Awesome, great response so far. Keep the votes coming!

Not yet. I plan to use TLR (Losi), Team Associated, and Serpent parts. All 3 make great competition grade 2wd mid-motor buggies. Traxxas is great for entry level stuff, but there is a huge difference going with the other 3.
Shocks, diff/drivetrain, hinge pins, and camber links from TLR; screws and misc from AE; chassis and possibly camber links from Serpent. That’s my rough plan atm, but things could change at any point.
Just the chassis for now. It’s really the only vital part that needs to be carbon fiber.
So I have some sad news to share. I priced out the vitamins needed to finish the open source competition grade 2wd buggy and it was over $500. This was for just the roller. Many current competition grade kits range from $280 - $390. I think I’m going to have to find some suppliers and see how low I can get the vitamins. If anyone has any manufacturing contacts please message me!
