Hey guys,
3D printing is going to revolutionise tabletop miniature gaming. It’s a perfect way to produce individual and customised miniatures for gamers. The current manufacturing methods (casting) require companies to create large batches of miniatures for them to be profitable. With 3D printing anyone can create just few miniatures without need to worry about setting up mass production.

We’ve just done our first miniatures for a game we’re working on. This would not have been possible without 3D printing. Exciting times for tabletop gaming!

I noticed a link to buy them on Shapeways, which is cool. Is it possible to buy the models to print at home, or is that counter to the business model? I’ve been curious about printed miniatures games, myself. I have ideas for a mecha game and a space combat game, but I’m only just dabbling in modelling.

@Michael_Vaughan We’re actually planning to make the models creative commons licensed in the near future (although the plan isn’t 100% finalised yet and I can’t really promise any timeline for that). Our business model is not to make money by selling miniatures. We want people to be able to print the models at home as well. If you shoot me an email to juhani@landsofruin.com I can send you the model for test printing. We’d be very interested to hear what the quality is with different printers.

Will do. I have a Replicator 2, and I usually print in PLA, but I’ve been playing with PHA lately (and damn does it look good at high quality…) I also have T-Glase, laybrick and laywood, but they’d just be plain silly choices.

Those models look pretty cool. I’d love to trying printing them out and see how well they come out

Awesome !Pathfinders Wooot!
