hey guys here come another stupid question.

hey guys here come another stupid question. so I bought the ATX and its amazing 550W with silent fan (so they say ) and 30 amps on the 12v rail. here’s the problem though, I’ve been printing all day with the bed set to 60c and the hot end to 195c and the ATX is at least 50c but the fan wont turn on. don’t no whats wrong or if its perfectly fine. Anyone no anything about it?

Normally the fan in the power supply is temperature controlled. So it should be ok as there is not so much load produced from the printer

@Hakan_Evirgen k thanks wasn’t sure and it was getting pretty hot

If you think there is an issue you can always hack it to run the fan off the 12v rail or whatever voltage it is carrying

@Griffin_Paquette that’s true to thanks

Very good shree krushna Sharman mamaha

Increase the HB temp upto 110C and check. It will take more load and probably the fan will run.

Check thoroughly that the fan does come on under load. Not to disagree with others here but every ATX PSU I have purchased has had the fan running at any load.

@Neil_Darlow yes and so was the one I had to b4, but this one didn’t so I got a little worried. when I first start the ATX the fan will slightly jitter like its about to start but then nothing. so increasing the load should work?

I don’t know. That’s why I suggested you check thoroughly.

@Neil_Darlow how could I do that. will increasing hb be enough cause it was already at 60c al day yesterday

If you have a silent power supply then the fan will only start after some load. I have a couple of such power supplies here.

If you heat up the power supply the fan should start spinning. Maybe use a hair dryer to heat it up a bit? But be careful not to damage it.

@Hakan_Evirgen I got it working thanks it was a little stuck after the shipper droped it, that all!
