Hey guys hoping for some help here i just put together a project using the WEMOS D1 mini Pro and 94 WS2812B’s and i tried to run the DemoReel100 to test the strip but there is this annoying flickering showing up at random places in the strip, i was thinking that maybe it was being deprived of power so i plugged it into my 2 Amp wall adapter and the same flickering was there, i reduced the brightness to 64 and still there. Finally i decided to test using the Adafruit Neopixel library and ran their strandtest code at 255 brightness from the USB port which only provides 500mA and there was no flickering. Im really confused here i havent had an issue with the DemoReel before…

Does it flicker for all of the animations? At least one of them is meant to. Its an effect. It does the rainbow, and then does a rainbow with flickering white lights all randomly for a twinkling effect.

Every single one. Specially noticeable during sinelon when random LEDs flicker on and off at random point in the strip while the effect is happening somewhere else…

Tried this yet? https://github.com/FastLED/FastLED/issues/367#issuecomment-258335318

@Jason_Coon No i had not. Thanx! also i had a question about your WS2812B FastLED webserver project. For the access point. How do i send commands to it to change patterns? Since i cant seem to get the web app to stay up. If it comes up at all it stops working within 5 minutes. Very annoying lol

I just did some projects with the wemos D1 mini and found the flickering happened with ws2812 strips and not my ws2811 pixel strings. I ended up using a level shifter on it and it worked perfectly after that. I just followed the fritzing diagram from @Jason_Coon 's Tree V2 project

@Charity_Stolarz thanx for pointing that out. That may have something to do with it. I havent had this issue with any of my previous boards thou and that threw me off lol

Yeah it was a first for me too. I usually scoff at all the “best practices” suggestions lol

Lol i never use the resistor or capacitor thats suggested in best practices. I have never had an LED burn out on me so i guess ive been lucky lol

@Cristian_Martinez , I use @Jason_Coon ’s web app all the time and it’s usually rock solid. Could you post your code?

I’m still really new to this but I experienced flickering on the demo reel when I used a usb wall adapter to power my arduino board and a 5v 40a power supply which was an over kill to power the ws2812b strips. Once I used the 5v 40a power supply to also power the arduino board it fixed the problem instantly. I have also later found using 4 x 1mtr 60 led strips all using the same data pin one strip was flickering and the other 3 were fine. It was a poorly seated data pin on the breadboard for that strip.
