Hey guys. I am probably going to try to refurbish my aging Printrbot simple

Hey guys. I am probably going to try to refurbish my aging Printrbot simple makers kit (1405) as it needs a new probe. Are there any mods you guys would suggest for it? Preferably if it is a printable mod, that it would fit on the print bed.
Also, do you think I would need to replace my probe extension cable?
This is what I think I will do:
Replace probe
Oil rods and bearings
(eventually replace nozzle)
Check all belts
Tighten any screws and put new loctite on if needed
Re calibrate

Does this sound complete?

Cold pull the hotend. Clean out the drive gear. Hit the printrboard with compressed air to dust it off. Sounds good to me. The cable shouldn’t need to be replaced as long as there aren’t any breaks in it.

@Griffin_Paquette How would I identify breaks in the wiring?

I’ve given up on my wooden Simple. The sag on the y axis drove me nuts. I’m thinking of using it for donor parts for a i3.

@David_McGuigan yeah I have been thinking about using parts in a new frame. Got reeeealy good prints out of it after having it a while. Lol my cura profile was quite a bit different.

I could get good prints, but only if they were close to the tower. Any large y axis extensions cantilevered the arm out too far and it had to much sag and play.

Can the Printrboard cope with twin z motors?

@David_McGuigan Yes it works with dual z motors, you just need the Y cable and bump up the current a little.

@David_McGuigan I run all mine with dual z. Only run them at 40% current too. They have quite a torque advantage with the acme rod pitch.
