Hey guys, I don't know if any of you Octoprint,

Hey guys, I don’t know if any of you Octoprint, but I could use some help getting my set-up to work. Here are the two resources I’m going on:

and
http://forums.robo3dprinter.com/index.php?threads/web-enabled-robo3d-using-raspberry-pi-and-octoprint.1774/

Most of it seems to be working, but my main problem is that I cannot get the webcam’s live stream to work, which is important to me as I’d like to be able to check in on the printer on my tablet as I do things elsewhere in the house. I can’t get to it from http://octopi.local:8080/?action=stream or http://octopi.local/webcam/?action=stream, and don’t know what I’m doing wrong or if there’s something wrong with the camera, etc.

Now it should be noted that I could not get the link they recommended of http://octopi.local to work in Internet Explorer or Chrome, but I followed the advice in that other post about just finding the raspberry Pi’s IP address (in the form XXX.XXX.X.XX) and entering that as the address, which worked on both of them. But I’m figuring this may be a clue why the other links are not working for me either, but I can’t figure out what else to do.

I will appreciate all suggestions

octopi.local will only work with Bonjour service running. Best to use the IP address.

Thanks, I hadn’t seen that one. I reposted my question there, but I will leave this one here as well in case anyone here knows how I can get the stream working without Bonjour (whatever that is :P)

You can get the stream running by using the [IP] instead of [octopi.local].

Oh good…but what exactly would I put in the address bar? XXX.XXX.X.XX:8080/?action=stream ? Sorry, I’m new to all this and approaching it as a learning opportunity in itself

Thanks, but I think I tried the links given in that article and they didn’t work. Should I just wait until I get a new webcam and try again?

If the webcam doesn’t work, the URLs won’t help you. So if that’s the problem (and you can’t tell if the cam is even being detected properly), best get one of those known to work (see the wiki)

Well guys, my new webcam came, but I can’t seem to get the pi to like it. Bought this one since I saw someone else recommend it for octpi:

At least I know it works, since I can see through it here:

Any thoughts?

@foosel Alright, so after that 2nd camera wasn’t working, I ordered that Logitech c270 that the wiki said has been tested:

Hopefully that will make my troubles magically go away. If not, I’ll assume it is something I’m doing wrong on my end.
