hey Guys,

I got some free filament samples recently and wanted to test them out, but the samples are pretty small. 12-13 grams each.

What designs/things/STL’s, would you suggest for such a small amount of filament?

Preferably something fairly easy to print as i can’t afford any wastage.

Thanks.

Our preference is to find a coin in thingiverse and print it. It is very easy to check if the filament is good and the printer is calibrated just comparing the 3D printed coin with a real one

My preference has been a Benchy though @Thingibox idea for a maker coin is a good idea as well for smaller sample sizes. You should still end up with a filament sample afterward for future reference.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I just weighed my latest benchy and it’s 11.7grams. i don’t think my 12 gram filament would be able to finish a benchy when you factor in loading the filament, and purge, etc.

A coin is a good idea. I guess i’ll finish tweaking my maker coin and print with some regular filament then when it’s done i’ll use that for my samples. gives me a nice reason to finish my coin.

Thank you all for the suggestions.
