Hey Guys,

I thought I would share how I’ve been putting my R7 to use! I started a little Etsy shop making signs for friends and family, and it’s starting to get pretty busy!

Looks nice. I am going to expand my business by doing signs also. What program are you using?

I use illustrator for most design work, fusion 360 for modeling and cam, and chilipeppr for my controller (tiny g).

Ok. I cant use cloud based software. Any internet suppliers can’t find me so I have to use my phone. I guess I could get huges net but they are very expensive. I will stick with the phone for now.

Nice work! I have been struggling with painting inside the engravings. Do you have any tips you can share?

@Colin_Kaminski on things that I have done was to paint it then sand it off the face.

@Colin_Kaminski Yeah, that took me a while to figure out. My method is to:

  1. Sand the board as smooth with some fine sandpaper 220 or 400

  2. Wipe it down with a barely damp cloth or tack paper, and then vacuum it.

  3. Cover it with masking material (http://www.uscutter.com/ORAMASK-813-Paint-Mask-Stencil) You can also use adhesive contact paper

  4. Let the adhesive setup for an hour or so-

  5. Carve the sign as usual (remember to adjust your Z for the thickness of the masking)

  6. Vacuum or blow out the letters

  7. IF PAINTING MAPLE OR PINE (or any light wood) Spray some type of sealer!!! I use shelac, but any clear spray works

  8. Finally Spray with your desired color.

@Dustin_Brown Thank you for that! I have done two signs. If I do another I will try that. I have a friend who wants me to do about 20 beer signs. White letters in stained Oak.

Isn’t the “N” backwards?

Looks good otherwise! Looks like you are having better luck with yours than I am with mine! I’m about to ditch Chillipeppr, it the bane of my existence.
