Hey Guys, I’m an idiot.

How do i remove the first two bottom layers from a print / stl? I sliced a print at 0.2mmm layer height. i want to remove the bottom two layers (0.4mm). So the first layer would normally be the third layer, if that makes sense.

I’ve tried the ‘slice’ function in slic3r prusa edition without being able to figure it out.

What’s the best way to do this? Also, what am i doing wrong?

In Cura (older versions ) let you drop your part down below the floor, effectively cutting it off. I have used it for a simple way to remove bad bottom geometry. I would imagine that your software would have a similar feature.

In Slic3r it’s a “cut” command not slice, right click on the model and choose cut. But it cut in mm if I remember correctly.

The “Cut of bottom” feature in Cura has now been incorporated into the Move tool of newer versions. You can drag the file down into the bed with the Up Z arrow. Or you can type in a negative number in the position field for Z. Not very obvious but it is there. In any Cura version it is a very useful tool.

I’d look for something similar to a “Move” in your slicer or try Cura.

In Simplyfy3d, you can make the parts down by either lowering the value in Z or by giving negative value in Z.
