hey guys, just a quick question…
Does anyone know how startups with high grade printers afford to sell at such low prices? (directed toward the CraftBot)
I know that printers like the DaVinci make most of their money through the printer’s “cartridges”, but the craftbot seems like good quality, with a big build volume, can use spools of filament, and is only 670… how does that work???
The short answer is: They can’t. 99% of printers right out of kickstarter, end up raising their prices significantly. Also, most of these kickstarters are going to claim high quality as much as possible - are you sure they’ve attained that quality? Have they begun delivering actual printers?
They mortgage their future sales to cover selling the initial batch at a loss. A destructive practice that never ends well, and ruins the market for everyone. 3D printer manufacturer that actually make and ship printers now have to compete with printers that don’t even exist and are marketed at unsustainable prices.
As a CraftBoter & new to 3D printing (practical experience ~2wks, research experience ~6mths), CraftBot being my own 1st 3D printer, the print quality according to CraftBoters with much more practical printing experience, the CraftBot print quality compares well against other brands at a favourable price point at the Indiegogo campaign price of US$399 (VIP) & US$499 (Early bird) & even at regular price of US$670. User experience is good.
Updates and post sales support (speaking from my own personal experience) is a great shout out too.
@James_Malenko There will be more CraftBot videos on the way. I am in Singapore. Have been to Hong Kong many times. I try to speak different languages, dialects for the beginning of each video : )
Are you in HK now?
