Hey guys , question .

Hey guys , question .
Does anyone know how to reformat a card for a 3d printer ? My card got messed up and lost its files . Need to reinstall files onto it.

The only way I have found that works absolutely for me, is stick it in my old camera and format there.
If I format it on the pc, sometimes it is smaller, or not formatted correctly. The camera always formats to perfection.

I have used SD formatter before. Worked fine in the past.

Use fdisk.

Thanks fellas . The thing is my laptop doesn’t connect to my 3d printer aswell , second the drivers don’t work or have to find the right drivers to install . But thanks for the heads up ! . Got a flash forge …

I would recommend setting up Octoprint and just using that. It makes for a much nicer 3D printing experience and still has a full interface.

It would be nice for it to work off the computer as well though! Does it do anything through Pronterface? Or does it not even show up on a com port?

Griffin Paquette .
Octoprint is , I presume a software ?
Regarding the connection between 3d printer and laptop ? Yes it’s supposed to work together
aswell work with the SD card on its own . Though it does not even show on any ports . I think i have to take it in to a computer shop and upgrade the drivers . I lost motivation with it and I had it for 3 years …just been busy and never had time to “work” on it but have some time now . It came with sailfish and something else . I downloaded splicer and had it going but all of a sudden the card didn’t work …tried the USB ports and nothing …no interconnection …though i take blame for the duration since I don’t even know how to install files onto the card to begin with. …all I ever printed out was a pylon and a Decepticon throne .lol. but I thank you guys again for the help , I need it .

@Marcus_Roman octoprint is a free software that runs on Raspberry Pi. It acts as a web interface so you can access your printer from any device on the network just by going to the IP address on the web. Basically you can control your printer from your phone or laptop or whatever device, and the pi sends the Gcode. You upload to the sd on the pi and you can even slice in the software.

So when you plug into the computer it does nothing correct? Are you sure you are using a USB cable that has serial built in rather than just dedicated for power?

I just used the wire it came with , the manual states it also bridges between laptop and Printer …unless the wire they gave me is just that …for power …

Then it couldn’t work for me since I don’t have a Raspberry Pi .

But that is a smart idea.
