hey guys, so how would i upgrade my metal plus to get a heated

hey guys, so how would i upgrade my metal plus to get a heated bed?This is what i need right? 8x8 heatbed, ATX power supply, Y-Power splitter, thermistor, kapton, hardware…?

thanks,

power supply really needs a closer look.

I saw many people doing their calculations wrong.
A 24V system would make it heat up faster, while using a lot more energy than 12V. People just thought they can double the W or just go with the same which will pretty fast kill your power supply.

So you would need to calculate the power in W you need by the Voltage and the resistance of your headbed.

so like if you use 24V and your heatbed would have a resitance of 1.4 Ohm
you would need about 17A and 411W so recommended would be 450W or more.
For 12V this would need 8.6A and about 102W so 125W would be a good choice.

Formular: U²/R = P
U = V
R = Ohm
P = Watt

So while you said ATX you will need to look if one channel supports this or the whole device. You need it on one channel.

for your power Splitter you will also need to have a look at the supported power it can drive.

Hope that helps a bit.

The ret you listed is really it, but their are diffrent configurations with alu PCB Heatbed instead of the normal, where you dond need capton, you can use glass or carbon fiber or some other stuff.
The capton for protecting would be good.

But thats it for a heatbed right.

I’m using everything from printrbot So I assume that they can all be used for each other. Thanks for your help! Just want to know about how to wire it?
