Hey @Thomas_Sanladerer . As you appear to be the op taking responsibility for creating new sections etc, Have you considered having a dedicated sub group for printer show 'n tell as opposed to bundling it up with the larger show n tell area. There are a lot of folk who frequent this group that have heavily customised or scratch built bots and it would be nice to be able to see them in discreet location rather than buried amidst endless Yodas and octo-cats and so on. For instance, I know you have (if memory serves) a double sized print bed on a scratch built custom wood bot; this is interesting, I would like to see pictures etc.
And @ThantiK (pretty sure it’s you) has a custom monster I2 (OB) style printer I would like to see more of.
Please don’t make me show of my bot - it’s vaguely based on a Mendel90, btw, and it’s a mess right now.
Now, i strongly feel that i’ll have to kill some other category if we’re going to introduce yet another one. Yes, Printers (non-reprap), i’m looking at you, since pretty much every post in there could also belong in News or Questions/Help. However, i don’t want to simply delete everything that’s in there (which is Google’s way of removing a category), so does anyone know way of merging the posts into another category?
Pretty sure when you delete now, it asks where you want to move stuff instead of deleting.
@ThantiK Nopes - I just tried it with a test community and it just tells you it will delete the content and it’s not undoable. You can manually move posts to a different category though… https://plus.google.com/+BrianGlick/posts/iey4qX2gLbp
I count 49 posts - As this is my stupid idea, if you want to make me a temporary mod I will move them all. Looking at them, a bunch of posts relate to repraps anyway.
Only the community’s grand masters can appoint new servants - until then, i’ll have moved the posts myself.
So, basically, the new category should be like Show’n’tell - epic stuff while the show’n’tell we have now would get degraded to a show your baby steps here category. Anyone want to help me find better names?
How about just ‘Show and Tell - Printers or modifications’ and ‘Show and Tell - Things you Printed’ or similar.
Ok, done. As it turns out, the RepRap category was exactly what we were going for anyways, so with some light post reorganization, i made it into the Custom-built & RepRap one.

@Tim_Rastall , you want to be a mod? You’re an active developer. Trustworthy. But it means that 3D printing will suddenly become a lot more spammy (because you’ll see the spam!)

If your looking for more mods I’d dedicate my services as well.
I’m really not looking for more mods - I just kind of offer it up to people that are very active, post a lot, help others, etc. Because it means everyone else who posts here has a good chance of receiving help, and having interesting things to read. It also means that spam spends a lot less time on the page than it otherwise would have.
I really don’t ever notice the spam, you guys are doing a great job.
