Hi again everybody:). So I have an ‘old’ Printrbot jr with this original Ubis ?ceramic style’ hot end. After several evenings of trouble shooting and trying many ways to solve my current feed problem, it’s now obvious that this is oozing and clogging up in there. I think it is where the barrel threads onto the heat block. I also can see twisting in the filament when I pull it out. My question this time is if the newer Ubis ceramic style compatible here? Is the heating part just less bulky now due to progress on hot ends? Thanks in advance!!! Of course if anybody has a suggestion to keep this leaking one alive I’d be glad to hear that too:). I got a PEEK barrel from Anubis but it seems to be suited for 3mm, not 1.75mm.
The Ubis 13S should be a drop in replacement. The kinking could have more to do with the extruder. The v2 Alu extruder works well as well as the gear head. Both have really tight tolerances
Thanks for the reply @Brook_Drumm . Is that to say that the Ubis Ceramic style for sale would not work? I have wondered that and saw a lot of discussions regarding difficulty with the 13S. Sounds like you suggest the 13S though and I truly value your input so that’s probably what I would do. Overall I just want to have it operating as close to possible as it has been doing for a while now:) I have triple double checked the extruder apparatus- gears, hobbed bolt, pathway etc. Apart and back together a few times. While I have had it apart I have also checked the hot end without the barrel or the nozzle to make sure it flowed freely with manual pushing of filament. Also tested with barrel/without tip and with tip/without barrel. I feel almost sure that the issue is happening right at the spot where the filament passing down into the barrel meets the threaded tube that it screws onto. I have tried to check and test all possibilities before I even thought about bothering anybody here, lol.
I don’t see why the normal ubis wouldn’t worn but Brook can say more. 13s is the next one on my list to try. It seems like you got some good use out of the old one haha.
Seriously!! This old bot has pumped out a lot of prints- a LOT. Only non-original parts, besides the board, are threaded Z rod and small extruded gear!! Oh and some of the linear bearings:)
All hotends wear over time. A few cold pulls may clean out any char in the chamber. Some use a drop of vegetable oil on the filament when you start printing. A new tip may bring it back. The barrel shouldn’t wear much.
