Hi, again!
The last puzzle turned out better than expected, though some sanding needs to be done, as the pieces don’t really fit that well together (some don’t at all) so, by the time i’ll get around to that, my wife said we should buy a scrabble set. 0_o buy?! BUUUY?!
@John_Car well, it’s based on a pruse i3 design, but it’s all custom made - because that’s how it ends up working when the frame is built out of “whatever is available”
the bed itself is 219x219 mm^2 and the print area is 209x211mm^2 - I’m limited to 209 on the X axis st that’s truly all the space the carriage can move, i can go more on the Y axis tho’. I left it like that because the axes complement each other nicely
@Graydon_Treude that’s why I went the custom way… you decide the size. do like i did with my old printer: design a new one, assemble it in any cad software and use as many pieces from the old one as possible (measure everything) and then tear yours down and rebuild the new one, the way you like it.
@Step_Cia indeed I am using an aluminium bed BUT, on top of that i have a 0.75mm brass plate for super fast part removal. since it’s elastic I can flex it a bit and the parts just come off. another plus is taht it’s super easy to clean the glue off of it and it matches the printer “theme” too so my little ocd is kept in check
@Step_Cia :)) thanks. And the clips are perfect to not get in the way of any print. So far, these tiles are the largest surface, single stl file I’ve done: 199x199mm²
Do you have any issue with flatness of such a thin brass plate? Particularly in the middle since you have it supported on all 4 corners but not in the middle…
@Gary_Wilson What @Nathan_Walkner said, and he also isn’t using it commercially in any way. If he decided to start selling them, maybe he’d have trouble. Otherwise, you could even call them Scrabble pieces and play with them as a Scrabble pieces and no one would care.
