Hi everyone, great community! I was wondering if anyone can give me some suggestion about buying a 3d printer.
here is the thing, I need a printer to make the models that i use to create a plaster mould for ceramic slip casting. it need to be hi resolution, precise and reliable. i’ve already checked different reviews and finaly came up with Zortrax 200. do you think it is possible to find a more affordable machine with the same quality?
thank you so much!
The Ultimaker 2 is also a pretty solid choice. I’ve heard good things about the M200 from Tim Rastall, but I’ve also had great prints come out of every Ultimaker I’ve seen. The Ultimaker also doesn’t lock you down to proprietary filament (I’m not sure if the M200 does)
Ultimaker, Type A Machines, Lulzbot, Airwolf, Zortrax, Seemecnc, Prusa, Flashforge, are just a few of my favorite things.
I sorta built my own from hardware store stuff, a plastic parts kit for a Prusa, and a ramps 4.1. and various do-dads ordered from china. I was a rather early adopter of the tech, like before you could buy a fully assembled printer. I am not suggesting you learn to build your own, but if you intend to “jump on the 3D printing bandwagon” it sure helps to understand how the machine works, and how they are built. Sure makes troubleshooting MUCH easier in the long run.
Take a look at the new Prusa i3 Mk 2. It has improved Z motion with leadscrew drive and E3Dv6 extruder. It should be capable of the resolution you are looking for.
