Hi everyone, has any one used led strips with 12v,R,G,B pin outs? I have no idea what they are called. Got them second hand with no info on them. Does fastled work with this style? How are they wired?
Thanks!

I have a few strips like this. They aren’t addressable, so you can only set the color of the whole strip at once, which you do by PWM on the the R, G, and B lines. You can drive each of those pins from a 5V PWM signal by using a FET (example: IRL520) as a level shifter to 12V.
@Amanda_Walker ahhhhhh thank you!
Wire the FETs up as low side switches (that is, drive the +12V line with +12V, and then when you drive the color lines to ground, the LEDs will light up. I’m not sure if FastLED will be useful for these, unless you want to drive these strips in sync with something else.
