Hi everyone, I have been a member of this group for some time now

Hi everyone, I have been a member of this group for some time now and haven’t really said too much because I have been so busy with the research of the 3D printed prosthetic hand that I am apart of at Creighton University. During the summer break (since I am a sophomore undergraduate), I was planning on building the prusa i3. I was actually looking for anyone that can help with finding the best list supplies to buy or a kit that I will just have to assemble. A little background of the printer needed… Currently we are using a makerbot replicator 2 and 2x. They have been performing very well but I wanted to expand the number of printers as I am printing out hands for children daily. I usually print anywhere from 8-20 hours a day depending on the hand requests that people need. I was looking for something to print abs and PLA so a heated bed plate would be ideal. Also, the bigger the build plate is also a nice addition  I know the size for prusa i3 is 8 inches but I was wondering if it is possible to go bigger. Just looking for any and all help if someone can help me out. Everything is coming out of my pocket so if someone has extra parts that they don’t need, it would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks,
Marc

Have a look at this site: http://www.banggood.com/buy/Reprap.html
Just try and enter different search terms

There are many Chinese suppliers which you can find cheap i3 kits but I prefer Aliexpress… More reliable… Take a look at this link:
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=3d+printer+kit+reprap+diy+kits&CatId=0&catId=

You can try Delta or Kossel which has bigger print area

Any other suggestions or help anyone help has?

Anyone have a build list for the i3xl?

@marc_petrykowski I too am planning to build a Prusa i3 style printer after getting good input from this community. I found that I could get reasonably priced parts from Open Builds and Gadgets 3D. In fact, Gadgets 3D has a Prusa style i3 (they call it Rep Rap G3d) in kit form for a reasonable price compared to the other i3 kits available. They also have parts available and their electronic parts kits look good.
I got sidetracked when I saw the Solidoodle Sale and bought one for less money than the cost to build. I still plan to build one or more for my Kid’s Makerspace, but now I will have one to print any plastic parts I need for the ones I build.
Check out http://www.gadgets3d.com for kits and part kits and http://www.openbuilds.com for parts.

Thank you @Edmund_Betlinski
