Hi everyone, I have received today the MK2S kit I ordered a while ago

Hi everyone, I have received today the MK2S kit I ordered a while ago and have noticed a few strange things while unboxing. I am curious if any of you MK2S owners have an answer for the following:

  • the box says MK2 not MK2S (maybe a mistake, lack of MK2S-labeled boxes, etc)
  • both the parts box and the hardware box lack a bag numbered with “1”

That’s all I’ve got, everything else seems there, even the U-bolts that have been added in MK2S to replace the Y axis bearings’zipties, so I believe this is MK2S indeed inside the kit.

I have moved to a new apartment and have a few other things on my plate but I will update the album with assembly pictures as soon as I get to that.

Thanks.

The bags are related to steps in the instructions manual, step 1 is the intro and has no assembly so there are no number 1 bags. As for the box saying MK2 vs MK2S, that may be an error, but you can check on the back of the frame, there will be a sticker that says the model number. If you ordered it before the MK2S release they may still be shipping the MK2 kit instead of automatically upgrading everyone that was waiting for the kit to ship. I upgraded my MK2 to the MK2S and the main difference was cable relief on the extruder body, the Y axis bearings are attached with U bolts instead of zip ties, and a different housing for the controller. Cable strain and the new controller housing were sort of negligible upgrades in my opinion, I mostly bought the upgrade for the U bolts and to see what else was changed but not necessarily mention. If you end up having the MK2 instead of the MK2S you may just want to see if your local hardware store has some U bolts to use for the Y frame and drill out the zip tie holes in the Y frame to hold the bolts.

Never mind I looked through your pics and saw the frame says MK2S so you’re all set.

Yep, I also checked and saw those. Thanks. I didn’t know about the frame though, good tip.
