Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to say thank you to you all. You have all been a great help and the FastLED library is awesome so thank you!
I had the opportunity to make LED costumes for the Trans Alta Grandstand Show this year with my wife Victoria designing costumes for the entire Grandstand show.
There were 12 aerialists in unitards, each with 450 WS2812B LED’s. With a run time of 30 minutes on batteries. One Arduino Pro Mini for each girl.
There are 3 pre-programed options that the girls cycle through, they are choreographed to switch based on the music.
Do you have any photos of the suits and how the LEDs are attached. I’m curious because obviously there’s a lot of motion going on.
Any challenging issues you had to work through?

@marmil I don’t have a final photo on me unfortunately. But we bought pre wired leds on aliexpress and then I covered them in transparent heatshrink to protect them.
Our first go we hand stitched them down. Bad idea. After that we stitched elastic as guides so that the leds could “breath”.
I’ve only done two evenings of repairs out of the 12 days of stampede so far. The biggest challenge is teaching and reminding the girls to be nice to the costumes when putting them on.
The photo attached shows the basic concept for layout although we changed it later. Maximizing stretch in the arms and legs by vertical instead of horizontal zig zags and vice versa for the torso and head.
