Hi everyone, I’m a noob to 3D printing so bare with my ignorance. We just got a Printrbot Play for our library and we’ve had it for about 2 weeks. Running fine and printing some good prints. Was printing an auto sensoring probe clamp yesterday when the Play started extruding jumbles of PLA in middle of print. Found out fans weren’t working. Anyone have this problem? I’m trying to figure out how to get fans working again. Sent a support request to Printrbot yesterday, but haven’t responded yet. Is there anything in the settings, or G code I should be looking at? I’ve checked all the connections and also advanced settings on Cura to make sure that fan is enabled. Please help, I was supposed to give a demo today for customers, but have had to cancel it.
If our board freaked out,and a reflash of the firmware does not fix it, we will replace. But short term, as long as you don’t leave the hotend on for long periods of time when not printing, no fan should not affect the ability to print. Maybe the issues is deeper than the fan. Try reflashing and we will go from there.
I found that sometimes the connectors can be touchy.
Thank you will try the reflash.
Hi Brook, fans are working when I print out the 3mm sample square, but patchy when I try to print other files. Any suggestions?
It sounds like a bad connection. Larger prints require the harness to be under different constraints than a test cube. So it leads me to believe there is a connection wiggling out at some point. Or a wire is cut and when pulled, it stretches and disconnects.
