Hi fastled guru’s,
I’m currently working on a game involving:
2400 ws2812b leds in 4 strings of 10m
hooked up on a teensy 3.5. port 2,3,4,5.
This is powered by a beefy power supply branched out at the start of the strip and after 5m.
I’m using FastLED 3.1.
The problem is the low fps, @ 4x50 led’s it’s silkey smooth, but @ 4x250 or higher it’s already very slow. @ 4x600 it’s like 1 fps or slower.
I’ve searched the internet far and wide and i came across multiple reason what could be the problem:
Thanks to David Garcia i figured out the problem was the updaterate of the WS2812B. It’s simply not possible with so many LED’s.
But, i’m not about to give up !!!
I’ve been looking into parallel output, but i was under the assumption this copies the same behaviour to all led strips. Am i wrong about this? And does anyone have the parallel output already figured out on teensy 3.5?
I’ve been also looking into the ADA102, if i get 2400 ADA102 LED’s (i will get a lot poorer… but) will it affect my framerate a lot? Will it fix my problem, get a steady frame rate of 100+?
Or do you guys have any other suggestions?
All the tips are welcome i wanna learn as much as possible, also if anyone has any tips for my code (optimisation) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
(code is work is progress)
