Hi Folks. I’m after a new hot-end as part of a Dual-Extruder rig. I’m pretty much sold on an all metal affair with interchangeable nozzle. Does anyone have some sagely advice based upon personal experience? My current default choice is the E3d nozzle but I’ve also looked at the Trinitylabs Meltmagma offering and ecksbot Hot End. Prusa nozzle also intriguing but apparently still not available (and fixed nozzle I think). Principally, I’m interested in high detail perimeters for this HE, so something with low ooze and able to handle 0.2/0.3mm orifice sizes without blockages would be ideal. Chur.

I’m mostly interested in the PrusaNozzle because it’s so damn thin. Hoping to figure out some sort of stacking arrangement for them. I would love to take the RepRapPro firmware that extends the board for a slave board, and go with 4, 5, 6 extruders…I know that sounds amazingly crazy, but it would be interesting!

@Sanjay_Mortimer , there’s a tradeoff there. In speaking with reifsnyderb (maker of the j-head), he actually had to create a pocket in which there was a small amount of molten material as a reservoir. In having a very small thermal transition, you sacrifice speed - a larger one, or a pocket of hot area will allow much higher print speeds at sacrifice of oozing and harder ability to retract cleanly. Have you tested the maximum print speed of the E3Dv4? Are you able to achieve 150mm/s reliably?

Thanks very much for responding @Sanjay_Mortimer . As I said E3d is top of the list right now and your comments above have only re-enforced that. I assume you ship overseas eh? Funny that J head should be mentioned, the .35 MK VB I have from Hotends.com is extremely oozy and despite my extensive calibration, tweeking and tuning efforts, doesn’t meet my expectations for print quality. That isn’t a criticism of the jhead as much of an indication of my high expectations btw. I see that Richrap has one of yours so hopefully he’ll produce a comprehensive run down on his experience with it soon :).

@Sanjay_Mortimer Bought one of your hotends last night :). How are you getting on with the .25 nozzle? Any chance you’ll be selling them before my order ships in 3 weeks?
