Hi for my hobby of geocaching I have a personal vendetta with some high hanging caches. But now I have ordered a pole and I would love to add some bling like a robot claw for grabbing those blod test tubes 10m up a tree. Does anyone have a design for such a claw. If I need it printed can anyone help me?

I like the design noted above. If your 10m pole is hollow, you should be able to route the activation lines to the claw. It might be less expensive to find a 3d printer service or makerspace in your country to save on shipping costs.

Geocaching always scared me.

Was worried I would be led to a dark ally way.

Those dark alleys at 10m altitude are ones to be avoided!

@Fred_U Lol. I dont know anything about it to be honest. I just know you find surprises left by others.

I just always imagined being led into a trap D=

Maybe I will invest in those capsules ninjas use to make a smoke screen for my get away.

I dont know anything about ninjas either.

When in doubt, obfuscate.

@Mark_Ellison I was thinking a lot simpler and a 2 fingered claw. I like the design though. But due to the distance I would love to add servo control.

@Sylvie_Gore me to but I went in there and got the cache. Once my wife called rescue services on me with ambulances boats and everything because I was to long in returning from a cache at sea.

@Nathan_Walkner very nice idea but to complex for my use. Simple does it.

@Mark_Ellison that looks a lot more like what I had in mind. I’ll have a closer look at it after work.

@Mark_Ellison Hi I love the design, I have a few questions. How big is it? How much would it weigh? and how much would it cost to make/ship to denmark?

@Mark_Ellison the site mentions some small servos (MG90). but I do think a drawing on how to connect it would be nice. I’m not new to electronics, but I havn’t been doing any for 15 years. But I’m trying to get back to basics with some Arduino parts I have ordered. My plan is to use Arduino for control. How ever I’m a firm believer in simpel is better, so I might have to look for a disign using one or 2 servos. :wink:

@Mark_Ellison
For the thingiverse item 891687 which uses a servo, one can either purchase a servo tester, a small circuit which takes battery power connections and the servo connection, or construct one via Instructables:

If only open and close are needed, the potentiometer could be replaced with a fixed resistor and an open/close switch to engage specific values for the tester.
