Hi guys, Help needed.

Hi guys,

Help needed. Has anyone got any ideas of what’s going on here?

It’s meant to be a Dynamite bust but at about 10mm off the build plate the front left hand corner started to appear rough.

I’m printing with PLA at 185c with a layer hight of 0.2mm and with an extra 2 shells.

I’m slicing with Replicator G on a Flashforge. I set the infill at 10% and the build plate to 40c with hairspray.

When watching it print it seemed to lay the first internal shell fine and then would miss print the second and external shells. Apart from this the print was perfect.

Any help would be must appreciated.

Whaaaaaaaa? Yikes. Last release of that software was 2 years ago. How about trying a modern slicer?

Also, that looks like the area where you’re changing Z height. Make sure your retraction settings are correct. It might simply not be priming enough before starting that outer edge and taking a little bit of distance before it’s spitting out enough plastic.

Looks like inconstant pressure on your filament.

Thanks for the help.

Looking at the retraction issue. I think that it might be due to the Sailfish firmware not adjusting the retraction when you increase the speed from the printer itself.

I’ll try again and set the speed when generating the gcode.

I’ve only been printing for a month and stuck with Repg as I find Makerware sloppy, but i’m looking to change to Kisslicer or Cura once I know a bit more about them.

Cura is dead simple to use. I’m new to 3D printing, but Cura was much easier to pick up than I expected. I use Pronterface to manually move things, but Cura is incredibly easy.

@Stephen_J_Bush there is a “prontrface” plugin for Cura that gives you most of the same manual control.
