Hi guys, I am making a homemade repstrap type printer with a printrboard and have had a lot of problems with the auto leveling. I tried a bunch of different firmware options, a new probe, and a new board with no luck.
This is what happens when I try to home the Z axis.
When you hit the home z button the z axis moves up a bit, and then stops but if you put something metal under it then it will continue going up until you pull the metal out.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to work?
(I had been talking with @Brook_Drumm over email but I have not heard from him in awhile, I wonder if my emails may be going to spam.)
It sounds like you may have the wrong sensor. There are two types, PNP and NPN. I forget what the printrboard uses but I dealt with this when I switched mine over to smoothie. If you have the wrong type of sensor it could explain why the printer doesn’t move when it should and moves when it shouldn’t. My recommendation would be to figure out which type you have and grab the other kind to try.
The firmware for the frankenbot is set up for the other style sensor- you might try that if the sensor is the wrong style. Looking for that link
@Brook_Drumm It is a PNP sensor just to let you know
Possible you ever plugged it in backwards? That could damage board. Just brainstorming.
Not that I know of, everything was lined up together properly with matching colors, unless something is messed up on my probe extension cable.
This really sounds like the firmware and sensor are not a match. I would load our newest firmware, try it, then our firmware w the other sensor style-- I’ll link to it in a bit. Not at work yet
@Brook_Drumm DId you ever find that link?
This should work, just choose the correct one and be sure to change build volume if needed

@Brook_Drumm Okay cool!
