Hi Guys,
I have a bottle ( STL & STP file ) that is hollow. Please can you tell me how I can change the bottle to a solid bottle and not hollow. I tried in Netfabb basic and 123D design with no success . I would appreciate the help, thanks
Fusion 360 or mesh mixer should do it.
@Brook_Drumm Thanks, I imported the stl file into Mesh Mixer and went to edit / Make solid. However the bottle come out with holes all over it.
https://netfabb.azurewebsites.net/ free but need Ms account.
is work better from netfabb basic but only automatic repair… at 90% him correct my sketchup stl where are full of inverted faces or holes.
Thanks @Mauro_Manco I was hoping that Mesh mixer could do it. Still getting holes no mater what settings I use.
if you use cura there’s a setting for that
Mesh Mixer can certainly do it…but the term “hollow” is confusing? Is it a manifold model? Is it s true vase with thickness, juts hollow in the center? If that is so, then just select a thin line around the lip of the vase, delete it, and run “separate shells” to separate the (now) disconnected halves. Then you should be able to Make Solid it.
Also, running Make Solid with any offset (rather than the default of 0) will give a better result (at a slight loss of dimensionality to the original model).
@Nick_Kloski1 Thanks for your reply. What my problem is when I print the bottle, the shell is too thin ( ABS ). When I squeeze the bottle with not much force, the layer come apart. ( Bottle collapses ) I was thinking of making the bottle solid, then making the bottle hollow with a thinker shell. Sorry I am still learning 3D model etc.
Hi @jesse_mccabe I am using a Mendel90 and software I use Slic3r or Cura. When I print in ABS, the layers break away when I squeeze the bottle. When I print it in PLA its fine. Setting for my ABS are : Temp hotend 235, Bed 90, Height 0.4, Nozzel = 0.5. Speed = 60mm. Heated chamber.
Thanks
Thanks @jesse_mccabe much appreciate the help. I will take your advice, I try it out tonight. Thanks
