Hi I am hoping to purchase a 3D printer I a reliable semi professional printer for prototype and small household and industrial fixes, I have been looking at the Makerbot Replicator or Replicator 2x, which of these are better? Is Makerbot a good first time Printer?

Have look at: https://www.3dhubs.com/3d-printers
I personally own a Zortrax M200 and i like it!

Thank you Erich, I am really impressed by Zortrax, looks very reliable and a good price too. thank you mark, I am beginning to see a lot of negative reports on Makerbot. thanks guys for the direction, very helpful

MakerBot replicator is quite old, the replicator 2 has had some followers. But do not get anything with a smart extruder. They break so frequently MakerBot started selling a replacement 3 pack.

I have been running a FlashForge Dreamer everyday since October 2014. The Dreamer is my 4th 3D printer. Print quality is great. The FlasPrint software is simple but works great. The print bed is solid and is mounted on the heavy gauge steel bracket.
The firmware is super well tuned to manage the extruder fans and cooling fans. I have had no shrinkage or curling even on larger prints.
The cost of the Dreamer is about half that of a Makerbot or Ultimaker.
For the three times I have had to contact support they got back to me and addressed my issue within the hour.
The dual print heads are great and they have enabled me to expand my printing capabilities and print with water dissolvable supports.

I’ve had good luck with our Replicator 2x. Though from what I hear it’s kinda hit or miss on quality.

Thank you so much guys, I am learning so much and continuing research on 3D printing. you comments have helped make for more focused research.
