hi! I am thinking of printing and making the openrc car. But before I get started i need to ask a couple of questions :slight_smile:

  1. what material should I print with?
  2. cost of electronics - motor and esc (have battery/transmitter)
  3. print time: how many hours of printing?

Hi!

Glad to hear you want to print your own car!!

It´s still not yet determined what material are the most suitable, so were still testing. I have printed most parts in ABS and some in Nylon.

Search this group and you will find recommendations for electronics. I think the cost is mentioned there aswell.

I hope someone else can give you an estimate of the print time. I have done so many iterations by now it feel like a zillion hours… :wink:

I´m sorry that i can´t help you more right now…

Rough estimate, if you’re printing all the parts, 40-60 hours on a 100mm/s setting. This does not include failed prints. :slight_smile:

Some examples from my printer:

2:45 Rims (each)

my BOM so far what i put together from various posts. everything else i printed in ABS on a Replicator2x, already exceeded the 60hrs but nearly finished…

For the wheels you need 8pcs 4x5x10 (width x inner x outer diameter)
For the drivetrain you need 6 pcs 4x10x15 and 4 pcs 4x5x10 (when u use hsp-diffs s.b.)
For the steering you need 4pcs 4x6x12
