Hi, I am using the Cube 3D printer with objects created using openjscad. Does anyone know command line interface or any way to skip the cube software and directly generate the gcode understandable by the cube printer? please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I think the cube people went to great lengths to make that impossible. You’ll have to hack the printer.

As @Shachar_Weis already pointed out, Stratasys 3D Systems made sure that the Cube was locked down as much as they wanted it to be. Running it with alternative, open-source software is definitely not possible, and i’d even dare to say that trying to hack it to be compatible with them would be a greater effort than just building a proper new printer.

@Thomas_Sanladerer Cube is 3D Systems, not Stratasys. Stratasys just bought MBI because they didn’t have a printer in that price category.

@Whosa_whatsis absolutely right. I even looked up which of those two companies was responsible for the cube but still managed to blame the wrong guys.
But honestly, i can see Makerbot / Stratasys heading in the same direction - all of their software is already closed-sourced and they’re rapidly moving towards proprietary file formats.

Thanks everyone for the reply. pity that all printers have followed closed source policy. thanks for the advice on printers
