Hi. I have an issue with ReplicatorG software with Win8.1.

Hi. I have an issue with ReplicatorG software with Win8.1. I have printer connected in COM3 port, ReplicatorG will found it nicely, but when I try to connect printer, it gives error message: “Serial port ‘COM3’ already in use. Try quitting any programs that may be using it.”. But, there aren’t any program. I have also try any other USB-port, but it always offers COM3 port. I don have any issues with MakerBot. It runs just fine. And I already uninstalled Makerbot and ReplicattorG and restarted computer and installed ReplicatorG again. Same error message. I already tried search solution from Replicator website, cannot find solution to this problem. Printer is CTC dual. Can anybody help me, please?

did you try asking makerbot ?

@Jari_Laakkonen Does your computer have Bluetooth enabled? It can claim COM ports without actually using them (for RFCOMM) and lead to errors like this.

I think you need to disable makerbot background service in task manager. It’s been a while so I don’t remember what the makerbot background services are named, but I’m pretty sure that’s the problem.

@Neil_Darlow
This is desktop without BT. I have also trying to check is there some kind of conflict between ports, but cannot find anything.

@william_foster
No I didn’t.

Ah I remember now. Go into Makerware -> services -> stop background service. That should free up your COM port.

Thanks Evan, this resolves this annoying problem.
