Hi,

I´m looking for endmills and drill bits to make some PCB board with chilipeppr,i never done that but i have some PCB FR4 i want to try, I have already choose some options:

For Holes:

Solid Carbide Micro Drill Bits for High Drilling Quality
Set of 0.6mm, 0.8mm and 1mm.
https://cnc-plus.de/en/Micro-Drill-Bits/Solid-Carbide-Micro-Drill-Bits-for-High-Drilling-Quality.html?XTCsid=7eu23imslvcjb3ubj4pna1e9s3

For milling the board i choose this one:
Carbide 20° tip Engraving Bit, V-shaped Engraving Cutter
Selection - ØD1 - x° - ØD2:Ø0.30 - X°=20 - D2=3.175
https://cnc-plus.de/en/Engraving-tools/20--tip-Engraving-Bits/Carbide-20--tip-Engraving-Bit--V-shaped-Engraving-Cutter.html?XTCsid=7eu23imslvcjb3ubj4pna1e9s3

I don´t know what to choose for cutting the board, any tips?maybe this one:
Carbide spiral engraving bit, engraving cutter, chamfering cutter.
Selection - x°- ØD2:X°30 - D2=3.175

Carlos, you’ll want to be careful with milling FR4 because the fiberglass dust that is released is really not good for your lungs. That’s why most suggest the somewhat harder to find FR1 blanks.

I like using flat endmills for the traces as opposed to the v-bits. I don’t like having to sand the PCB afterwards. I feel like the v-bit gives me a bit smaller of a trace if I’m careful, but the flat endmill is much easier to manage and cleaner if i’m ok with something like a 0.4 or 0.3mm isolation route. I haven’t had much luck with 0.1mm or 0.2mm endmills for isolation.

On the final cut i just use whatever crappy endmill i have lying around knowing that FR4 is harsh to cut.

Hi Kevin, i didn´t know about this but i will be very careful, i have a few FR4 boards and after that i try with FR1 boards.

Hi John, i will change my order to flat endmills, maybe something like this:

In 0.30mm

or this one for the traces:

Hi Carlos. I make a lot of PCBs on my Shapeoko2. I suggest you use FR1 boards, not FR4. FR4 is very hard on your tools and the dust is pretty hazardous. I’ve tried several different mills (with FR1) and by far the best is : PreciseBit Tapered-stub End-mills EM3E8-0100-25V
You can get them here:

or here:

I get PCB blanks from Inventables:

Hi Scott, thanks for your suggestion, i very hard to find FR1 PCB Boards in Europe but i will try:)
