Hi, i'm new at all this.

Hi, i’m new at all this. this is probably really easy but i want to run multiple strips of differing lengths of tape but with the same code running on all the lengths.

i.e. i want to run cylon on a 32 pixel length and the same on a 144 pixel length at the same time.
Is there any sample code i can look at to achieve this?
im looking at 6 - 8 different lengths at the moment.
cheers

not sure how many lines you can do but I have split the data line out to 4 different strips so they are all mirrored… just make sure you grounds are all connected…

I have done this before too without an issue. It would be best to use a duplicator circuit, but in a pinch, just making the signal common between the strips does work.

Is your goal to have the animations line up on the different lengths? When the cylon reaches the end on the 32 led strip, it should also reach the end of the 144 strip too?

Hi Jon, on some animations yes that’s exactly what I want, on others I just want the shorter strings to carry on looping until the longest one has finished and then start again. Also need a way of segmenting the strings in comparison to each other, I.e. Long string section has say 140 pixels while the same equivalent section on a shorter length may only have 40 or 50.

I think the easist way to start toying with the idea is to use the recent example posted for the LED glasses by Mark. Zeke also used it to make his costume and was able to spread the pixels out over a distance to make it wrap around a globe. Does this make sense? This isn’t easy , but may give some insight: https://plus.google.com/107405884874432450288/posts/CbLqBckDCRJ
