I’m using prusa i3 and recently upgraded to dual extruder (still making it work).I use slicer to generate gcodes and use Repetier as the host software.
I was using 1st extruder(BLUE) for part and 2nd extruder(RED) for support printing. Yesterday I changed the extrduer settings in slicer so that 1st extruder will print supports and 2nd one will print the part. But after slicing , in the print preview everything was under extruder 1 (both supports and part printing).
I checked gcode, there’s no T0 or T1 command
Why is that?
Is that a slicer bug?
My FW is marlin for dual extruder
board=printrboard rev D
I’m not sure it’s a bug but I’m also not sure if you can do what you want.
With a multi-extruder profile selected, the Multiple extruders settings under Print Settings shows what features can be assigned to an extruder.
If those settings only permit changes to the extruder for Perimeters, Infill and Support then I believe the basic premise is that Extruder 1 will primarily be used for normal printing and those other features can also be assigned to Extruder 1 or passed-off to Extruder 2.
I have Itty Bitty Extruder Flex V2 and got it all working… (It has been a journey.)
I was not able to get slic3r to work with dual extrusion too well from a Mac. When reading doc, it shows screens that I do not see. I saw a UTube video where someone said that part isn’t running on a Mac. (I believe this but it has been awhile.)
I did jump to Cura 15.04.06 on Mac and have NO problems.
Two STL files are loaded and then ‘Merged.’ The first loaded one gets extruder1 the second loaded stl gets extruder2. If you drag and drop 2 at once it is the reverse of which was selected. You can also select nozzles for support, any, 1st or 2nd. It all works.
@Neil_Darlow I think I figured it out, but still needs testing(currently in the middile of a 33hr print, I’ll test it after that) @Gary_Deen
I’m using windows
If I select the extruder as 1 in the drop down window near the object (repetier object loading), I could only use extruder 1 for part printing and extruder 2 for suppost, can’t to reverse.
But if I select extruder as 2 in drop down window, I can only use extrude2 for part printing and extruder 2 for support.
