Hi
Please can you help. I printed a 25mm Test cube and had no problem with the layers. I now tried printing a Vase and there are small Gaps between the layers as you can see in the Pic. What setting causes this ?
My settings
Temp = 210, PLA, Bed temp 60, Speed = 90mm, Slic3r vase settings . Mendel90
Based on that photo and the fact that the vase does not seem centered in the loop around it, I’d say that either your x or y axia is slipping. Check the tension of your belts.
It appears to be an acceleration/Jerk problem, extrusion only appears to be in adequate when the printer is changing direction. Have you calibrated your acceleration and jerk? Additionally you may need to slow down. This is typically more forgiving at lower speeds. Thomas Sanladerer has a good guide on this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HsIZuj9vOs
Completely unhelpful and slightly off topic but: I read “Please can you help. I printed a 25mm test cube”, text preview cut off here, then I saw the picture and went like “huh?!”
Thanks to everyone. I try your recommendations tonight. @Ralph_Schaffner Thanks for your help, I moved the Vase to look at it, that’s why it looks off center.
@Vaughan_Lundin there are different rules of thumb. I usually say width=nozzle and height less than 75% of nozzle size. Some people say width=height+nozzle. For overhangs, you want at least half of each strand on top of the previous layer, so for 45 degree overhangs you should do height = half of width or less. Smaller layer heights perform better for overhangs.
