Hi there I am getting a bunch of problems running FastLED on this board. Can anybody help? Yes I am giving enough power. I have got only 2 sample codes to work. But nothing else. Just a bunch of random colors on strip.
Can you give an example of sample code worked vs one that didn’t?
What LED strip are you using?
DiscoStrobewithPalette works
Nothing else
WS2812B 5050 RGB LED Strip
I even turned the brightness down in some other code if it were a power problem but it still did it. Also I started at 144 LED’s/M then I cut in half and now just working with the 72.
Connect ground
Are you sure you’re not confusing just a bunch of random colors on strip as disco strobe sketch working? I kid, I kid.
Very strange. What says @Mark_Kriegsman as to why disco strobe with palette seems to work but nothing else?
I think it maybe that the battery is dead. It died so I am charging it now. But yes why is it that ONLY that code works? Very Nice work! Very Low Power then considering nothing else would work for me! I will update after fully charge and test some more code out.
As @Oystein_Krog said. Connect ground but supply it in parallel across de strip. How many leds you powered at the begining, you said there us enough power… can you state how much power? For just 144 leds at full (all white) you may need up to 40W (8A at 5V)
Actually @Victor_Pacheco I only need 2.88A @ 5V for the 144 led’s that’s at MAX brightness all of them.
Have you tested running it with a power source other then a battery?
@marmil I have got any RGB LED code to work using an Arduino Uno and battery prior to this! So that’s why I wanted to use this board to “smallerize it”.Yes I powered 144 led’s just fine using that.
I think I am having problems with my booster. I am thinking about using a different board for power?
Great, so if powering it with wall power works, even with 144 leds, then seems like you’re heading in the right direction regarding trying a different booster and/or battery. Let us know what you discover.
This Feather board is 3.3V correct? Curious, are you using a level shifter (74HCT245)?
Yes Feather’s are 3.3V logic.
I am using my old “Fade” code I shared on here a long time ago. Just to have something that is very small for testing. It’s working but not enough power I am using color BLUE but it’s flashing Green. And if I don’t use the booster it is BLUE but dies out almost instantly.
