Hi! What is the current recommendation regarding printers at max cost $1000/€700? Prusa I3 kit? Something else?

My friends keep asking me for advice…

For a kit in the RepRap lineage, Mendel90 - http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?94,196585, comes in about $1000/€750

Otherwise, Printrbot Simple - http://printrbot.com/product-category/3d-printers/simple-2/, $700/€515 shipped to Finland from Printrbot. I think 3dDinge was starting to distribute Printrbots, but I don’t see it on the site.

Is go with the metal simple. The price of the bot, aluminum handle, heated bed upgrade that will go on sale next week and an ATX power supply will take you right up to you price point.

Seemecnc Rostock max kit is 999

Makerfarm just released a 10 variation of the i3v only $620 now. Not much more cost… And an extra 2" of build area on each axis.

Dang and I JUST bought the 8" kit - I would have definitely sprung for another $50 - and it comes with a heated bed relay. Just got mine printing nice too.

I wonder if this version is better the the last version. We have one at our makerspace and it is awful. Not a fan. It may just need some love though.

I have mine printing wll now with PLA - but heating up to ABS temps just ain’t happening. Planning on a 24v conversion ASAP and putting in auto bed leveling. My other (3DR) runs on 24v and the difference is huge.

Thanks for suggestions. Sounds like Printrbot simple might be a good suggestion.
